Don't really have a recommendation for a cheap bow because I believe you get what you pay for. I am 6'5" and have a 32" draw. I shoot a 66" longbow and it is very comfortable for me. I've got a 60" recurve and that is as short as I would go (probably too short in most bows but pulls alright in my widow). Just set him up with something long (not less than 64" on the longbow and not less than 62" on the recurve). He'll thank you for it. God Bless, Dave

You need to define "cheap" better.  Seeing that you can easily drop $800 - $1,000 on big name bows, there are lots of gems under that (and used will let you go lower).

Longbows in the 66"-68" will do the trick, and recurves in the middle 60's should work too.

Seeing that the internet is available, contact bowyers as to their thoughts of how their bows will perform.

My draw is 32+, and it took some time to find a match.

A word of caution, at his draw, most available bows will carry quite a heavy poundage as they are "for the masses" (27"-29").

Good luck!

For a production bow.....a 64" Bear Montana longbow or a 62" Martin Hunter recurve would both work fine.

Tracey Tricket is a bowyer here in Ohio who would know exactly what to make your friend. He  has a 33" draw. Sent you a PM with contact info.

I'll second Woodchucker's suggestions. Good value and would fit the bill nicely.

If he finds a used fita bow with ILF limbs 25" riser and 66-68-70" limb choice  at around 38 lbs he will be drawing to a smooth 45lb and can find heavier limbs down the road. That should be an easy find in the land down under.....Curt

I have to disagree with the Bear or Martin, at least based on my experience.  I've owned a Martin Hunter, and pulled back a Montanna or three.  I can say that the ones I had my hands on are not friendly for a 30+ inch draw length.  Mass produced bows are produced for the masses, and most draw 28-29" or less.

I'll also note that it's been a while, so maybe things have changed.

I pull 30.5" on my longbow and up to 32" on a recurve (depending on grip style).  Not sure if either of these would fall into the "cheap" category though.  My longbow is 66", my recurve is 62", but both were made for my draw length.
