My dad, known here as “Slow Bow Jimmy,” passed away October 22, 2018. He left to go deer hunting that morning and never even made it to his blind. We found him by a tree, his Ben Pearson Mach One laying beside him. He had a massive heart attack. He was 72 years old, and had milked his two years of retirement for all it was worth, mainly by returning to his love of traditional archery. He taught me to hunt growing up, and though I’ve been on a hiatus for many years, I’ve been getting some of his bows out and shooting with family—including my son—recently, keeping the tradition alive!
