I have several classic 60” Kodiaks, and find that an 8” brace height works fine. After you get used to shooting it, you can try different brace heights from 7 1/2-8 1/4” to see what you like the best. I use dacron strings on my classic Kodiaks, but I’ve heard others on here who like fast flight. If you do use fast flight, pick one that has some elasticity to it. There was a post on here about that, but I don't remember which one they mentioned. Probably the folks at SBD would know.

Not sure this will help. I have two 1971 vintage Kodiak Hunters (60") and they like an 8" brace height. And fast flight strings.

If the string has only been shot 50 times, it may well stretch out enough to lower your brace height 1/4” or more after being shot a few hundred times, particularly if it is dacron rather than fast flight. Even after the string is fully stretched, I find that if the bow hasn't been braced for a while, it will start out about 1/8” higher at first and settle in to my desired brace height after a few shots.

I have a 1990 Bear Kodiak and I brace it at 8 1/4". And I use either B50 or B55 strings.
