I got a new to me bow today...and it’s a funny story I thought I’d share...
I keep my eyes on Craigslist and local sites for used bows. I’ve been wanting a classic Grizzly for a while and today on a local garage sale type site I see a vintage Bear recurve. 56” bow, 45# draw....1969 model year. The bow looks great in the pics....I contact the seller and ask a few questions. He tells me he is selling the bow for someone else and gives me a number to call the owner....the number looks familiar.
I dial the number and sure enough, it’s in my contacts...the name pops up, it’s my uncle. I didn’t know he had an old recurve, let alone pretty much the exact bow I’d been wanting......I call him, he’s excited I want it. He wants to give it to me for far less than he had it listed for....I refuse that and insist his asking price is fair.....he says fine but says I have to take all his old wood arrows, one of the old slide on quivers and another bow...yes a compound but I swear it’s like the original bear compound lol I don’t shoot wheelie bows much anymore but who am I to turn down a cool, old bow.
Anyways, i got a kick out of how the day turned out and figured I’d share. I ordered a new string and need to refresh the rest and strike plate, can’t wait to start slinging some arrows with her.
