Fixed crawl with a release aid?

So as some of you might know I'm trying to switch to a release aid because of a hand problem.
It has been a tough couple weeks trying to figure it out.
I just read an article about the advantages of the fixed crawl.
Now I'm going to confess, I have always kinda looked down my nose at 3 under and especially fixed crawl.
And using this release, my bow has changed tune but I had a thought.
What if I put the release down the string about the width of my finger.
Low and behold, the arrow flight straightened out and sighting down the shaft, I put the arrow tip point on at 20 yards and it hits only about 2" high.
And as you can see from this picture, my group is decent up and down, I just need to figure out a more consistent anchor point on my face to get the left to right tightened up.
I'm going to stick with this a while and fine tune the crawl point to be point on at 20 yards.
Guess this old dog needs to concede that this is how I do it now.

Thats a pretty good group for where you are with this.  Frankly, before you do much more, I would try it at 30 yards and see where that puts you vertically.  What you should look for is at what yardage are you "point on" at with this setup.  Its kinda like shooting a handgun....  It easier to aim low and see the bull then raise the barrel (arrow) and cover it to find the bull.  I hope that makes sense.

I have shot 3 under for almost all my archery life (over 50 years now.  I have played with "crawl/string walking" but prefer to shoot simply gun barrel on the arrow since my competition class in 3D will not let me walk the string.

You are doing great with the release.  Keep it up and continue to let us all know how you are doing.  Pretty bow by the way.

Once you decide the location on the string where you want your fixed crawl, I would suggest putting a D loop on the string at that location. It seems to me that would give you a more precise place to lock your release onto than directly onto the string.

I don't think a D loop would work with this release, and besides with a nock point, I would be able to get it on the string without looking.
And while hunting, I would prefer that.

I dont think a loop would serve a purpose here as the release is a loop type.  I would still suggest a below nock, nocking point be installed as there is still a chance the arrow nock could slip down especially since you are placing the loop from the release below the arrow nock itself......

The only problem I'm having is, I CAN'T FIND A CONSISTENT ANCHOR POINT.

When I was using a release I would get the release tucked under my cheek bone and have my nose touching a feather.  Once you get used to it, you'll do just fine.
