Matching Longbow/Recurve Options.

Does anyone shoot a matching long bow and recurve by the same Bowyer? After buying and selling a few bows I’ve decide to be a one bow kind of guy. But can’t decide if that one bow should be a long bow or recurve. So I’m on the search for a Bowyer who makes both with the same grip and length. Just wondering if anyone else has the same philosophy. And looking for recommendations.

Hey Kyle, how about a longbow and recurve that utilizes the same riser?
That’s how I designed mine!
You can swap limbs and interchange from longbow and or recurve and never have to change risers. That way literally nothing changes in the grip, shelf cut ect..
if you’d like pm me your number and I can send you a few pics for reference if your interested.

I often matched up a 50s style recurve with a longbow with the same grip and same poundage.I typicslly would have a mild R&D limb for the longbow that strung into a D shape. Here a few I liked.
Great northern Ghost curve with GN Critter Gitter longbow.
Fox Breed 62 incher with Fox Traditional longbow in 64 or 66 inches.
Holm made River Runner with one of his longbows.

Hey Tagsoup,
How-about the Blackwidow PL & PSR
Same grip and riser I believe, and can be had in a take-down too.
I'm a longbow guy, and the only bows I own are PL longbows, love them, but if I ever wanted to buy a recurve, it would have to be the PSR.
Highly recommend having a look at them.

Toelke bows would also fit the bill.

Given whats out there its a decision between 1 piece (2 bows), 2 piece (2 bows) and 3 piece (1 riser and two or more sets of limbs)..... Ya change the limbs on the 3 piece, ya have 2 bows with the 2 piece and the 1 piece. In my mind (whats left of it) if ya travel its simple 2 or 3 piece. If ya walk out your back door and are in the woods and that's where you hunt then the 1 piece stuff is cool.
I have to admit, at 73 years old I like variety. Course that may mean ya need more arrows.....
Just some thoughts.

I’ve never considered take down bows. I don’t know why really, maybe I always assumed they were heavier and I liked the looks of a one piece. But those bows I looked at from you (Randy) has me now not ruling out take downs. Those are really sharp. And the Great Norther Ghost is a bow I’ve been heavily looking at. I really like the 50’s style and the Ghost is the best looking one I’ve seen. Waiting til Compton so I can talk with some Bowyers before I decide anything. I appreciate the responses. I’ll be looking into all options til June. Thanks.

Another vote for a matching pair of Toelkes. Or Java Mans, or Big Jims. A Mountain Monarch and Buffalo would be ace.

I have a matched set of Toelke's. I asked Dan to match the grip shape, and he did a great job. I have a hard time deciding which one to shoot on a given day!

How about a Cari-bow Silver Fox 3 piece longbow. Could you get a set of recurve limbs?

There was a matched set of longbow/recurve Cari-bow’s at the PBS banquet last weekend that were amazing. They won the best bow in the professional bowyers category.

The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Well, I didn’t plan on it but I came across a Holm Made River Runner for a price I couldn’t pass up. Totally through a monkey wrench in my plan of ordering a bow at Compton this year. But I’m glad I took the chance on a used bow. When I can save up enough money I’ll probably have Chad Holm making me an Osprey longbow in matching stats...or a 56 inch River Runner. This one I got is awesome.
