21'st Century "Golden Eye"
« on: March 25, 2020, 03:48:28 PM »
Hi.   Recently picked this up from Big Jims.  Has an unusual limb tip design and wondering if anyone has any experience/knowledge with it.  It's pretty fast!  Thanks,  Tom.

I saw that bow awhile back on the website but couldn't tell from the photos who made it.  My guess Milton did since J&B didn't have that model in their catalog.

The price was very reasonable so if the limbs and tips are in good shape you got a good deal.  At the time, had I been able to tell if it had the J&B logo it would be sitting on MY bow rack not yours, lol.  Those 21st Centuries were great bows, hope you enjoy it.

Hi Tony, thanks you for your note.  The bow is in very nice shape and does have J&B named as part of the 21st Century decal.  Last I looked it's still on the site. The limbs tips make a radical change the last 10" where they go from wide (flatbow/recurve) to a  narrow longbow dimension. The specs are just right for me and I like the bow and it's darn zippy.  I'm really curious about the back story.  Thanks again,  Tom.

Nice find, Tom.  I've never seen or heard of that particular model, you may have a rare gem especially if condition is good.  Maybe bowyer Jim Ploen could shed some light on it, you might be able to find him on Yu-Toob (he posts there sometimes).

I have been wrong before.. I think, but all the 21st century bows I have in stock were built by J&B.  I purchase around 20 of them last summer. We are still getting them on the web site.

Thanks, BigJim

Thanks for the feedback Jim, nice to know there are still some of the old 21sts circulating out there.  Out of curiousity I went back to your site yesterday to 'see the bow I saw before' and although the one Tom purchased (all white limbs) was there the one I had seen (very similar but the limbs were two-tone and the J&B label wasn't shown) was not...must have sold recently as well.  Might have to do some checking on the others you have coming in.

I recall that J&B did make a target bow model called the Goldstar but I've not heard of a Golden Eye.  Will be interesting to see if anyone can shed some light on the background of that model.

I know we sold one over the weekend.. We are having a terrible time getting used … and new bows listed on our website. Just not enough people who know how in the office.

It's a financial pain to have over 400 bows in inventory (new and used) yet only have about 100 total listed.

Thanks, BigJim

Have seen your very well-done vids Jim and I'm a big fan of your craftmanship, bowyer knowledge and blue-collar approach.  Wish I lived closer, would love to help out around the shop/office if I could (so many nice bows to see, so little time).  It would be my new dream job lol (I'm retired).

Again Tom, hope you like that new-to-you bow...gotta love those old 21st C's.
