Stress cracks on older bows... worrisome?
« on: April 02, 2020, 03:27:09 PM »
I'm looking at an old Bear semi-recurve, mid 50's vintage; seller says there's 2 minor stress cracks, one on each limb. I know they're pretty common on old bows. Saw pictures, but I can't tell much from them. Are stress cracks more of a cosmetic issue, generally, or should I be worried about structural integrity? Bow looks to be in pretty decent shape otherwise.

If they are vertical and just visual bow should be fine. If you can feel them it may be a problem and a sign of abuse.
Nothing clears a troubled mind like shooting a bow.
