Fire and blades
« on: April 23, 2020, 10:24:31 AM »
Question for you more experienced people.  I have an old sabre from the Spanish/American War from a family member that went through a house fire.  They wanted me to make some individual knives from it.  My question is, is the steel cooked or can it take a hardening again?

It can be hardened again.  You just have to go through the entire process again...forge blades, quench to harden, and then temper to soften the hardening.
