Ron LaClair's Grayling Spirit Recurve
« on: May 21, 2020, 09:49:12 AM »
This is a topic Mr. LaClair will be the only one to answer.  I have owned a Grayling Spirit recurve since around 2002. It is one John McCullough made.   I'm curious to know how many GS's were made overs the years what were the years they were made.  I believe mine was made in 2000?

Thanks much

Michael

I think it is against the law to start a thread like this without a picture of said bow.  :biglaugh: Pictures please never seen one.  Thanks

Here are some photos.  It's 60" 62@29, brown glass back and belly,  riser not sure if it's walnut or a rosewood and has a purpleheart I-beam pillar.

Back when I was having my John McCullough Griffin built I asked John about the Grayling Spirit he had built for Ron LaClair. John said it was based on a Bear 59 Kodiak but the limb profile was closer to a 1964 Kodiak. Back in the day he said the 64 had the best performing limbs. My GS seems to have maple limbs. I’m using. Dyna97 12 strand string and it definitely slings an arrow.

I'll second that, I got one in a trade a few years ago and it is a permanent member of my collection.
