A couple metal projects....
« on: June 01, 2020, 11:30:54 AM »
I have been working in the knife shop on a couple non-knife projects - first is a pry-opener.  I made one of these pry-openers from a scrap of blade steel I had and I used it all the time - so I had a bunch of them laser cut out of 1095.  These are easy to make and my son helps me make them in the garage.  I have these things on every workbench I have and I use them daily (primarily to open cans of stuff...and a drink here and there).  I harden and grind them.

Second is a marking stamp I made with an old pantograph machine.  I bought the old, rusted up D2 engraver earlier this year and took it apart and brought it back to life.  This stamp is an end grain marking stamp I made from 1084.

Was going to tell you Trapper. That blank is 1095 and you can harden it if you wish. Notice I grind in a thinner tip too.
