Much Needed Walk-about
« on: April 17, 2008, 07:42:00 PM »
Have you ever felt like everything was getting bottled up and closing in on you? Well I get that way when I haven't had a chance to spend much time in the Woods. Between getting Old, supposedly semi-retired, self-employed with two businesses, health issues and constantly worrying about my Children I felt like I was going to explode. So today I gave myself a Personal Holiday and spent it in the Woods. Just me and what God has given us in the Outdoors. My go to bow anymore is a longbow but today I took one of my recurves off the wall as it was getting stale hanging there. I spent almost eight hours wondering around, scouting, shed hunting, stump shooting and with no luck morel searching. During this time I took in what Nature put there for us to enjoy. Turkey's, Deer, Birds, a Bobcat chasing a Red Squirrel, a bunch of Squirrel's, the breeze in my face, tree limbs moaning from the breeze on a Spring morning, water trickling over rocks headed downstream to join up with a larger creek. I could go on for hours of what I saw and heard. At times I just sat down and admired the peacefullness of such a place. My mind took me to a place with no worries of the modern world. Modern Society's Lunchtime came and went without me feeling a bit hungry. I was getting full on what I was taking in from the great outdoors. In a way I was all alone or was I??? I don't really think so. If you ever get to feeling too much pressure remember there is a place for you to go. Take care.

Playing Peek with a curious critter of the Woods.

Lucky for him it wasn't in Season

The old recurve, little 4 pt. shed and just a bone.

Nice way to unwind. Glad you could do it for your self.
I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.

Done that myself out of necessity a couple times in the last year.  Sometimes even just an hour or two out and about with a bow will cure many ills.

Good hunts!

Even I feel better!

Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.
