Which 3d deer target to buy?

What’s everyone’s favorite brand or model 3D for practice on the backyard? Most durable and true to size?

i have bought the big backyard buck twice maybe three times and the big 150" glendel buck, and neither lasted me very long. if i would have been shooting broadheads all the time they wouldnt have lasted a month. the glendel pretty much just fell apart. the glendel is a good sized target. ( guess il buy another one) :biglaugh:  :archer2:  :biglaugh:

I bought a used Delta/McKenzie at the Metropolis ASA shoot a number of years ago.  I did not/do not shoot at it on a regular basis.  For practice I use bags and only just before deer season go to the deer target to check my "sight picture" thus saving it, if you will.  That being said, it has held up pretty well for me.

The prices on the full life size targets from any of the mfg's. can be pretty steep.  I would suggest looking at used targets.  They can be a real deal no matter which company makes them.  I would also add.... doesn't make any difference which one ya get, using broadheads is really going to shorten their life.

The saying, you get what you pay for, is never truer that with 3D targets….

Both Mckinze and Rinehart , make a pro or premium line, with replaceable inserts….. they are the best long term best value.   They last much longer, are very realistic, and are noticeably higher quality.

Both Mckinze and Rinehart (and several non-premium brands) make a budget line of targets…. No insert, lighter foam, plastic legs, and no one really expects more than a season or two of use out of them…. Last years field point target, is this years broadhead target…. Discard, repeat…

So it really depends on your goals for a target….. I buy the best I can, for long life and a more enjoyable/realistic target on my 3D course… they just seem more fun to shoot….

One trick I have found that will make a cheap foam target last many more years, is to brush paint it, at the end of it’s first season, (you want it to soak up more paint than spraying it will) with an exterior latex house paint…… it will seal the foam, and keep it from drying out so bad….

I bought the Big Shooter Buck mainly because of the price a couple months ago.  Don't waste your money, it is not worth half of what I paid for it.

I could sell anybody's targets if I choose too..or everybody's. I choose to sell Rinehart targets because they are quality and sell themselves.
I sold over 70 rinehart blemished targets at the trad IBO last weekend and they are generally my toughest crowd!

There backyard or woodland seeries is the most affordable and don't have plastic legs, but they also won't last as long as there 3D range seeries... go figure  :biglaugh: Now if you never miss the core, your golden as it is made from the signature Rinehart foam.

I would estimate that I have sold over 3000 of the woodland deer in the last several years. Most customers are very happy with them. Others would complain if you hung them with a new rope!

I have a multitude of Rinehart targets on hand due to not being able to do many events this year.  We will and do ship them.
Thanks, BigJim

Rhinhart targets are the only targets we use for the Compton rendezvous at the Berrien county sportsmans club.

What ever you get make sure it has a replaceable core.
