Two Turkey Bone Knives...One Finished
« on: August 09, 2020, 09:11:20 PM »
Even though it is 95 degrees here in Aiken, I got a start forging TWO Turkey Bone knives one for NWTF auction and one for maybe me! Both knives will be about 8 inches OAL.  I'll finish grinding and assembly in the next few days.  This is a first for me working with bird bones :)

Top Turkey Tibia Bone...
Very straight small diameter bone but feels good in hand.

Bottom Turkey Femur Bone...
Also feels good on hand with more traditional curve but It had an unusual twist and elliptical opening making it hard to orient the blade to the handle.  I had to forge the spike tang smaller to get it right.  You'll notice the space between the bone & handle this is for a poured pewter bolster to lock the blade in place.

Finished the Turkey Tibia Bone knife, tea stained the bone to give it a little contrast.
