Anyone shooting Centaur Battle Axe broad heads?

Hey Guys,

I was just wondering if anyone else is shooting Centaur Battle Axe broadheads and how they have performed on game that they have shot?  I have been shooting and testing them and I am amazed at how well they shoot for such a large broadhead!  I am currently shooting them on an Easton Hexx 330 shaft, with a 175 grain stainless steel Ethics insert and 100 grain broadhead adapter and the Battle Axe is 200 grains.  Total weight up front is 475 grains and total arrow weight is 742 grains for a full length shaft at 31.5 inches.  They fly great and are very quiet but do tend to drop off after 20 yards.  This is not a concern for me because the area I hunt encounters are close 15 yards and under due to the thick brush. So has anyone else used these broadheads???

I have a few simmons treesharks. Same thing.

shot a small pig with one. they leave massive holes!

DHill1520 let me know how they are flying for you.  I was really surprised at how easy they mounted and the the head was perfectly straight and spun like a top!  I just jinxed myself because the next two will probably give me fits! Looking forward to doing some more testing with them but so far they have really impressed me.  I will let you know how the sharpening goes I think that might be the only difficult part.

Ozy Clint yes they are very similar to the Simmons and both should put a big hole in anything they hit.  Did you have any issues with getting them to fly or sharpening the treesharks?  I wish we had some pigs in my area it would be a great way to test the heads out!

I shot tree sharks for a lot of years. They can definitely turn a marginal or bad shot into a dead critter sometimes, but I had a few bad experiences in a row. I found if one of the wings clips bone but the other doesnt, it would turn the arrow and destroy the penetration. I had great penetration with them otherwise and they actually have less surface area than most heads so they dont plane much at all.

I shoot them - performance is excellent- it’s basically a better built Shark. And I’m a fan of sharks shot them for 20 years until Centaur started producing heads.

no issues with flight. I reduce the bevel angle a little with a round or half moon file then finish with my jewel sticks. then i put a tanto tip on them too.

I file sharpen then finish the back half with the back and forth croc sticks
