Ground blind bow holder for recurves
« on: October 07, 2020, 06:05:37 PM »
Are there any available out there. I'm doing a search and all I find are bow holders more suited for ranges. If not I'm going to try and fabricate something.

Don't want anything that screws into a tree, just want to stick it in the ground and have it hold the bow with an arrow nocked at the ready.

I use the HME Products Archer's Ground Stake. It has set screws in the bow holding part so you can adjust the angle needed to hold any bow.

Okay that looks like it fits the bill. The only ones I were seeing before were the fixed angle ground stakes that are more suited to compounds. But this one looks good for my purposes... thank you.

Yeah but what does that old coot know, he doesn't even have proper Camo

Actually I never have seen this rendition of Fred in the field but was thinking of a wye stick for this purpose while sitting in the blind last weekend.

I like Fred's idea. One less thing to carry and lose.

I have a big mikes blind and I use one of these:

Little end fits on fiber glass blind rods perfectly.  Works great.  Bow and arrow is always hanging right in front of me.

I was watching a video of Mel Johnson talking about taking the world record whitetail out of a natural blind and he mentioned that he made a y stick to prop his bow.  Simplicity...

Here's one I made. It's just some steel rod with adjustable bracket at the top. I used a 2" U-bolt as the fork to hold the bow then covered the fork with black latex tubing to both protect the bow and offer grip on the limbs. The fork is adjustable for angle as it works by cantilever effect of the bows own weight.

I attached some lengths of black 1/2" irrigation piping via 1/8" shock cord. These act as guards for the spikes when transporting or packing to and from ground blind.

Works great and simple to make.
Thick fog slowly lifts
Jagged peaks and hairy beast
Food for soul and body.

Border black douglas recurve 70# and 58# HEX6 BB2 limbs

I take a piece of parachute cord and make a loop on one end for the bow limb tip.  Tie the other end to the roof of the blind and adjust for bow length.  Works like a charm been using it for twenty years....  And its simple goes in your pocket.  I run a rubber tip protector on the bottom limb and it just sits on the ground...

Like so fashion :biglaugh:  When you set it up do it behind the bow  so that when you take it off it falls back behind for limb clearance during the shot.....

That’s a fantastic idea, you can hang it from any limb also
