Help me out with this trail cam photo...?

I got this trail cam pic on 9/12/20 at 7:18 pm. I can see that it is a deer, but the body position has me a bit baffled. There was not a photo after this one until after daylight the next morning.

I think that's a deer scratching its head and neck.
Like this one, but more on the ground.

arrow30-another animal on a deer was my first thought. I checked the ground where the photo was taken and there was no hair or blood or any kind if sign. Thanks for the input!
