Broadhead flight issue

I have a 48# recurve that I have bare shaft tuned. Both fletched and unfletched fly beautifully to same point of impact with field points. As soon as I attach a two blade broadhead I get this barrel roll effect. I’ve rotated fletching and broadhead to all possible configurations and tried different broadhead of the same make.  It also spins perfectly on arrow true jig.  It  hits close to the same point of impact as field points but it’s flight is unacceptable.  Any suggestions appreciated. If my memory is any good  :dunno:  I think a very small nock or b/h adjustment has fixed that issue for me in the past...ymmv

I did similar but it was a heavier insert I used and flight was corrected

Idk, may be me...??

I shoot the cedar arrows my son Tyler makes for us. I do not bareshaft them.
3, 5" left wing feathers, offset fletch, Bear Razorheads or 125gr Zwickey Eskimos, mounted horizontal.
8 1/2" brace height, and a 5/8" nock height.

I have NEVER had any type of crazy arrow flight at all...
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

There is a fine line between Hunting, & Sitting there looking Stupid...

Broadheads will accentuate and magnifly release errors. Check clearances first on rest. Then see if you are plucking or releasing in any way other than smoothly. The key will be auditory. Smooth release on a recurve will sound VASTLY different than a pluck or a hard roll off to either side. The barrel roll appears to be attempting to correct something

Do not know at what distance that you verified your bare shaft tune.

Of my experience, 20 yards has been too close to expect my broadheads to fly spot-on with fletched field point tipped shafts. I do not know the exact min distance but do know that any arrow that I have bare shaft tuned to 40 yards will shoot a BH tipped shaft spot-on out to 35 yards.

Get some Magnus Stingers, fly like a field point and cut like a razor. I use the two blade 150 grain.. break it and they replace it.

Assuming you are using the same shaft, length, broadheads weighing the same as field points, and fletch is 5" helical or straight with offset, check the shafts for straightness and a wobble when spinning. Also check the nocks on the string, they should not be tight. Then check the knocking point. Try raising the string height 1/4 inch.  If the broadheads weigh more than the field points, you might try a stiffer shaft.  Do not bare shaft broadheads.

Normally a barrel roll is a contact issue.

If it spins true like you said in 1st post, its you form/release, not your broadhead.  :campfire:

Is it possible that a BH will weaken arrow spine more than a field point even if its the same weight?

All of what he said, X2.
And, I sometimes go up or down 20 grains or so on the BH to fine tune, but  I think  "corkscrewing"  is mostly in my form (providing they spin test true, which you've checked).
