I believe the best string silencers are the big yarn puffballs...they ar e effective on any string I've used. But I don't use them often. I usually use the Black Widow spiders. They are small and don't snag weeds, burrs, etc. They are ok at limiting noise.

I have used about everything at one time or another for silencers.Wool puffs or my favorite to dampen string noise.

I make my own.Thier pretty easy to do.I do trim them up into a smaller ball with scizzors that makes them denser and helps with things not getting into them and makes for easier removel as well if you get some burrs etc on them.It lightens the overall weight of the silencer as well.

My second choice would be well done cat whiskers.

Bow I have uses only B55. I shy oaway from wool as it is hydrophilic(absorbs moisture rover time). So, I have stuck with cat whiskers. I slip them thru the center of my string and lightly serve above and below each silencer. I do use the 18.3 percent formula for placement and it has worked amazingly well. All I can hear at release is the string rolling off the leather.

I'd just buy regular yarn from the craft store, whatever color you want. With your 4 fingers together, wrap the yarn around them about 30 wraps (60 strands). Unstring the bow and separate the string bundles where you want the puff to be. Insert the wrapped bundle of yarn through the bow string and string the bow again. push the yarn bundle together tightly and trim each side 1 inch or so on each side of the bow string. The yarn will puff as you shoot. If it gets full of crap and burdocks, cut them off and re do it. Easy peasy, cheap too.

I agree on yarn puff balls. I cut (8) 4" pieces for each silencer and tie a knot in the middle with thread. Once placed in the middle of the bowstring strands, they puff up after only several shots. I've heard about problems with them in brush, but I've not encountered that.

Once in a while you will get a burdock or other stickers in the puff ball but they are easy to replace.
