Hey guys I just wanted to give quick review on the Palmer extreme broadhead. I know deer season is fast approaching and everyone is hustling to get their gear together before opening day.
For anyone who hasn't heard about these heads; they are designed and sold by palmer archery. They are produced by muzzy and would be my guess that they are a modified muzzy phantom.
These heads are a great head that I am very excited to try them out this year on a Ohio whitetail. I compared them to my tried and true 165 grain simmons landsharks. These palmers weigh in at exactly 160 grains.
The palmer heads are a good bit longer than the simmons and 1 7/16 wide which is just a hair slimmer than the simmons.
The Palmer extreme is a 4 blade that cuts a very nice sized hole in my 3D target. These should leave an impressive blood trail. They flew great and didn't make any noise in flight.
Sharpening them on my KME with the diamond stones at a 25 degree angle produced razor sharp blades very quickly. They sharpened quicker than the simmons with the KME jewel stick.
here is a comparison between the 2 blade simmons and the 4 blade palmer extreme.
So hypothetically speaking, This broadhead should have as big or bigger cutting surface than the simmons, while having better penetration from its better 3:1 ratio and straight blades.
But there is only one way to find out! To all broadhead junkies out there, give these a try. I think you will enjoy them as I do. Cheers SS.
