Instructor recommendations
« on: November 28, 2020, 03:07:31 PM »
I shoot ok with how i shoot now but i know its not the correct way to shoot.  I also know i am over bowed which is most likely a big part of my issue with not getting into back tension.  Ibwill be getting a lighter bow (10 to 15lbs lighter) soon. Im thinking with thT change it would be a good time to get some instruction on trad shooting to help break the bad habbits.  Any recommendations for an instructor in Wisconsin? Closer to Green Bay the better.  Thanks

Arne Moe (moebow) is a member of this board and is a level 4 instructor.  He lives in Grand Rapids, MN, which is not exactly next door to Green Bay, but not all that far, either.  He has helped many of our members in the past, mainly by analyzing their videos, but some in person as well.  It might be worth your while to contact him, to get you pointed in the right direction.

Rod Jenkins is a champion archer and great instructor who travels around the country giving seminars.  You can contact him through Safari Tuff to find out his schedule.  Maybe he is planning on visiting your area of the country; I don't know.

Arne and Rod follow the most common and widely used methods and style of archery in the US.

Rick Welch, also a champion many times over, is self-taught, and teaches his own style of archery.  I've taken a number of lessons from Rick, and use his style myself.  He travels some, but most of his classes are given near his home in Little Rock, AR, so you would have to travel.  If this is a possibility you would like to consider, let me know and I will give you more information.

Thanks McDave I know i have a gew issues but the biggest one im trying to figure outnis the correct draw and back tension use.  I know this would help my shooting a ton! I can ise and fell thr back tension when i "pretend" draw with no weight. Put a bow in my hand and i can't figure out how to get the back muscles involved.

Getting a personal shooting coach would be great but I would also consider one of the online shooting courses through The Push Archery. One is with Tom Clumm  and the other is with Rod Jenkins and Jimmy Blackman. I got both of the courses and it is the best money I have spent on archery. You have the courses forever and they also add new content. Can't recommend them enough.
