Well I made it home from my turkey trip had a great time after some changes of plans and some rerouting. I still havent figured out the picture posting but I am working on it so I hope to have some pics up soon. I killed one turkey here in La. with my shotgun then left here headed to Kansas and man o man do they have some turkeys in Kansas. The first day we concentrated on getting a 9 year old boy Lawson his first turkey and getting it on video. For some reason he was having trouble hitting them and after missing 3 longbeards we decided to call it a day. Well on the second day he had to go back to school so it was the grown ups turn to hunt. I was hunting with my friend and we went to a new spot, we were both bowhunting but since he was using training wheels he said I could go first. Shortly after daylight 3 longbeards came in and one came to the decoy and I let him have one at 10 yards right through the wing joints and he went down in the decoys. The other 2 jumped back a ways but soon came back in to check on their partner well by then Kent had his bow ready and got one of them. I have never in my life had such an awesome adrenaline rush my first trad kill and my first bowkill turkey and on video to boot. The next day was canceled due to severe downpours but Sat. morning was pretty and clear and Lawson was out of school so he was ready to go, shortly after daylight a big jake came in and he buckled him on the spot, that afternoon Kents wife went out with us and killed both of her birds in one setting. Sunday morning was another beautifull morning and Kent, Lawson, and I were in the blind early, shortly after daylight 2 longbeards came in to the decoys and Lawson collected his second bird. Monday morning was cold but a beautiful sunny day. Kent and I went back to where we were at Sun. morning and the birds were all around us but none wanted to come in, finally about 11:00 one finally decided to visit the decoys and I put an arrow through him at 6 yards. I couldnt believe it my second trad bowkill was as great as the first after pics we called it a day. Well unfortunatly the next day the wind blew so hard we couldnt hear a bird if he gobbled inside the blind so nothing happened. I had to leave the next day and was supposed to be going to Nebraska but the weather channel said it was supposed to rain and storm for 2 days and I only had 3 days to hunt so I headed home but on the way home I decided to stop in Arkansas. I only had 2 and 1/2 days so I only bought a 3 day 1 tag license the first afternoon I was there I roosted 2 birds about 200 yards apart so I set up my blind and got ready for the next morning. When daylight came I called a little and soon had both birds coming in fast. One hung at about 35 yards but the other one came straight in to the decoys and he died at 8 yards. So my season is done and it was an awesome season if I do say so myself.
I just want to say a HUGE thank you to all the folks on this site who have put up with all my stupid questions and who have helped me with all the little things I needed to get me set up and ready to hunt. Thank you again and I just hope this is just the beginning.
