Missing Kalamazoo
« on: January 30, 2021, 04:45:34 PM »
I normally spend this weekend in Kalamazoo at the Traditional Bowhunters Expo, but unfortunately it was cancelled this year.  Today has been a day of building arrows and getting ready for the bow I would have been picking up.  I'm having a Northern Mist Skanee made with the longbow riser.  It's a 66" bow 55# at 28", Osage riser with flamed birch veneers, and since I couldn't get it this weekend I talked with Steve and he is building me an extra set of limbs for it, they will make a 60" bow and having them made at 45# at 28" with Osage veneers.  I was also looking forward to shooting some short recurves this year, along with stocking up on arrow building supplies, and any other good deal I came across.  My list of bows I wanted to try were,

St. Joe River Torrent
Black Widow PSR
Shrew Lil Favorite
JavaMan Helms Deep

Along with many others.  Who else is missing the show, and what was on your "wanted" list?

It sad not to have been there this past weekend. Tracey and I love the expo and seeing so many people we may only get to see once a year.  It will be back in 2022 and will be as big as ever. in the mean time let's keep hoping for the  Compton Rendezvous in June.

Jason wish you could have been able to shoot the Torrent recurve. Maybe in June or if you find you will be near us at any time give us a call and stop in.

There are a bunch of us saddened by missing K'zoo this weekend.  I've missed a few years, but it was on my list this time.  We understand the cancellation, just not happy it had to be.

Terry, hope you can make it next year, it’s a great time!!! Hope to see you there. David, work permitting I would like to make it to Comptons again and shoot some of your bows.

I would have missed it again, but I will never forget it!
RIP Chad Holm.

And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.
