how do you prepare glass for finish? do you need to take all the shine off of it? i use 150 grit 220 grit scotch brite then steel wool.

Sounds like you got it. I just sand with 220 non- stearated paper

Most times with 220. Sometimes when I need to lose a pound or two 120 then 220
