Bow Quiver Noise
« on: March 13, 2021, 08:31:15 PM »
Hello all!

I’ve been having the hardest time trying to quiet down my great northern limb mount quiver. I’m in love with the quiver and don’t want to try anything else at this point but the vibrations are driving me crazy. The bow is completely silent without the quiver on. Any help with quieting it down or reducing the vibration would be great!

Thank you!

A couple of things you might check;
First, remove the arrows and see if the noise is still there. Might be the shafts are not tight in the grippers. A bit of Liquid Tape applied with a Q-Tip to the grippers can tighten things up. Another possibility is that the broadheads are pushed all of the way thru the foam and contacting the cup. A couple of layers of MoleSkin up in the cup might help.
If the quiver still makes noise without arrows in it, you might try checking to make sure the connections are tight.  I have a Bear Quiver with the spring arms that I quieted down with self adhesive bandage (cheaper in the pet section than the Pharmacy) by wrapping under and over the  arms. Another time an old Sagittarius quiver was found to have a loose rivet.
Failing that I would contact the folks that made the quiver. 99.99% of the people in the Trad business will go out of their way to help you out.
Good luck & please let us know what you find.

I mainly use Great Northerns and haven’t ever had that issue. The times I’ve had rattling or vibration was from the arrows not being pushed in far enough or the foam being to used causing the arrows to move. I’d check everything what said and if you still have it I would contact Great Northern. Make sure it’s strapped down tight also.

Good suggestions above.  Also, it's possible your fletchings may be contacting each other at the shot. If so, that will require repositioning the shafts in the quiver to separate the fletchings more.

Which brings me to something that I forgot to mention;
If you are using a fletch bonnet, the material may be slapping against the shafts & making noise.

I've been using fletch overs for decades and never had a issue with noise... but, I use a certain design.

Are the straps of the quiver long after the secure pin on the mount? Is the hood or grippers loose on the mount?

Hello Everyone! Thank you all for the tips I’ve been scratching my head trying to figure this out because I’ve never had this problem with a great northern before. I took the arrows out and tried shooting and can confirm it’s the quiver itself that’s is vibrating. When the goes off the whole quiver vibrates for about two seconds, just long enough to give it an audible twang sound. I’m thinking it must have something to do with it being the limb bolt option and somehow the energy from the limbs is dissipating though the quiver. I haven’t been using a fletching cover and I made sure the fletching all had enough clearance. I’ll try wrapping the prongs that hold the quiver to the bow with some tape or something else that will help get rid of the vibrations. Thank you all for your help!

Hmmm !!!  For me it has always been the fletch touching.  5" shield cut.  I trim the arrows to "just long enough" and shoot really stiff spine.  This helps cut down on vibration.  But I use strap-on quivers.
