I'm Years behind on PBS, now that I'm semi-retired I'll try to cut into that.

I use to have the habit of going to bed an hour early to read. I've read most of Allen Eckert's books. Somehow I got out of the habit. I've recently had cataract surgery on my eyes so I need to start reading again.

I just finished 'Mountain Man' by Vardis Fisher and 'Crow Killer' by Thorp/Bunker, the two books that the script of the movie Jeremiah Johnson was based on.  Both good reads.  Next up: 'Across the Wide Missouri" by Bernard DeVoto.  I've got years of back issues of 'The Backwoodsman' magazines.  If somebody's interested in a reading material swap, PM me.  I haven't subscribed to TBM in several years now.  I found out that  the UPSP has a special reduced "media rate" for DVD's, books etc., so it may not be as bad as you think for something that weighs a ton. You may just have to wait a month to get them......

This guy lived alone in the Adirondak woods for 30 years.  Just an amazing story.

I am tearing through Son of the Longbow. Marv Clyncke is probably my favorite western writer, especially since Dwight Schuh and Jim Dougherty are no longer with us.

I have the opposite problem, i love to read and constantly running out of material. Currently reading Marv Clyncke’s book, I’m enjoying it.

I find it interesting that Noah John Rondeau did not have one set of horns stuck to his cabin.  He put up all the shoulder blades.

Does anyone know why?

I've never heard of that before.

I've never heard of that before.

He hung'em inside away from the eyes of the game wardens.  He took a deer out of season once for food and lost his Guide license.  He then invented a code in his daily diary to record his kills that no one could figure out.
