Shop heat

Basically the same type heater found in forced air heating in homes,Schools. Business's. Only diff is this has a custom tin cabinet built around it, so it is portable. Very economical to run,  heating elements can be replaced, all parts can be serviced, replaced. It is basically a heating element coil, a blower, and a belt, motor in a box.

Thats a great idea Gary   That could be a real economical alternative, especially if you could score a used gas one.

Hate to find out the hard way! Stic already had a pellet burner, so his dust collection must be adequate.

This is an electric 220 volt.
Not gas.

Not familiar with hvac unit. Is that all electric ?

HVAC units are generally used with duct work.
They can be elec, gas, or whatever.

The pellet stove has the burn pot enclosed with heat tubes that a fan blows the hot air out into the room. If the gas ones have open flame then there may be a problem. Thinking most of them have to be vented tho.

there are vented and non vented gas heaters, depends on your needs/concerns.   Another consideration is that most building codes and good practices will specify a minimum height above the floor for the install if there are flammable vapors present.

I had a couple of those types from overseas and did not get a winter out of them.
Make sure elements can be replaced and they have a good brand fan/blower motor

I have a 14 x 24 and bought one of the 30,000 btu overhead heaters from Menards. Working nicely.

Last summer I installed a 5,000 btu air window unit. Runs on low and works great!

Just fan noise, not loud.

It was a special order to get one smaller than 45,000, not cheap. I think it was around $600 or so.

Forgot to mention that it draws cold air from outside. There is a pipe in a pipe, heat thru the center, air on the outside of the inside of the piping!

I don't see any flames, but I would have to read up on the literature to know how it works.
