Elkheart performance vs recurve
« on: March 28, 2021, 04:26:33 PM »
Probably not much of a chance that any of you have experience with these two particular bows, but those of you that own an Elkheart should be able to compare it to other recurves that you have shot. I'm looking hard at picking up a used Elkheart, 58" and 49#@29". I am currently shooting a 60" Widow PTF, 60" and 46#@28". I'm hoping that the Elkheart would perform close to the PTF and I'm guessing that at my 28" draw the Elkheart would be 46-47#. After 35+ years of shooting I realize that no two bows shoot exactly the same. I'm just looking for a hybrid bow that will be close to the Widow in performance. It would be nice to have two bows that shoot that shoot the same arrow/point combo for out of state shoots where I could shoot two classes as well as a back up bow for hunting. The grip angle of the Elkheart appears to be very close to the grip angle of the low wrist grip on my PTF. Any and all input is welcome!

I had a ptf years ago and I have two of Gregg’s classic hunters (pretty much the same as the Elkheart). You will be pleased with the performance of the Elkheart, its performance is comparable to any recurve I have owned.

I have owned 2 elk hearts and a widow (not PTF) and I don't think you are going to notice much difference. You will be very happy with the performance of the elk heart.
