1916 inside a 2117

I just watched a video of Paul Schafer shooting a cape buffalo with a 2117 stuffed with a 1916. He also used an unknown zwickey head. What do y'all think about that combo? What poundage bow would that work on?

It would depend on point weight & arrow length, but I'd guess somewhere around the 80-90# mark. Minimum.

Tim; Paul used a 90# Silvertip for the Buffalo hunt and the 1916 was swaged inside the 2117. the Broadhead I believe was just an ordinary 2-blade Zwickey Eskimo.

I remember reading that story. Awesome story by one of the greats.

I guess that might come out too stiff for me. That man was a physical beast.

I tested that combo, I still have some here, they came out a bit to stiff for me shooting 85#'s at 29", they are a very nice fit though.

What if I used a 1913 inside of a 2117?

Tim; That would work fine!. If thats too stiff for your Bow , you may want to try a 1716 inside of a 2020. I believe thats what Ryan Rothhaar used for his water Buffalo!? Mikes archery in Ironton ohio can do the swaging for you.

I believe Paul used a Zwickey delta two blade and sharpened the back edge.

The 1916 is also a good fit in the 2219 if you need MORE spine. I don't remember exactly what Ryan Rothaar used on his buffalo, I went back to that spot and eventually found his arrow, but by then the pigs had pretty much destroyed it.
