Finished some woodies today
«
on:
April 27, 2008, 12:12:00 PM »
Today I have finished some woodies. They are made of tapered shafts (23/64 to 5/16) that I bought from Waipity Archery.
Specs: 470 gr, 30" long, 125 gr field point, 5" True Flight RW shield helical fletched.
I will use them for 3-d shoots where only wooden arrows are allowed.
First picture: me getting the index feather colored, the other pictures the result.

Fletcher: No they are top-hat screw-on field points.
John III: These took about 10 hours to complete. This is exclusive dry time for the coats and painting.
BTW: I forgot to add the spine: 50# to 55#.

What do you use to color the feathers? Looks like a marker? They look great.

For those who are interested in the markers I use: For the index feather I use a waterproof fabric marker (red), they come in different colors. For the black rings I use a waterproof Lumocolor marker pen (fine) from Staedtler.

Mark,
The waterprof fabric marker I got from a lady that had them as left over. She used them to make color drawings on T-shirts. My guess is that you can buy these kind of pens/markers in a sewing shop or fabric shop somewhere.
As for the black waterproof markers you can buy them in hobby shops, office appliances etc.
