Looking to upgrade from just using my phone, but don't feel the need to drop $500+.
Any recommendations out there?

I like the Sony ax53, ax33, ax43. All pretty close. Canon makes decent ones as well. They say the pic quality isn’t good but to my eyes I’m no expert but the pics are good. There’s also a setting I’ve gotten video and pics when it was about dark on an ax43

Thought I had pics to show you, I don’t. You’d be surprised how good they look.

I haven’t seen any inexpensive cameras that beat the Sony. I’m no expert though boys but I did research best I could

Not sure what kind of video camera you are after, but I thought I'd attach this review of an inexpensive action cam. Just in case this meets your needs. I have no personal experience with it.
