Hello all, I am sorry for bringing back a post that is over 10 years old, however I stumbled upon this post accidentally trying to get back into my old account “lttl otter” to which I could not gain access and wound up simply making a new account
.
I wanted to share with you all one of my fondest memories that has been a time capsule on this forum. It has been a very rough year for the Cowles family. My father “Jimmerc” passed away December of this year. To give you all a bit of a backstory since the original post at 23 I wound up “showing interest hunting”. By 24 I was addicted. I hunted along side my father every weekend of every season for the next 6 years. In fact our very last hunt together we both harvested does(another of my fondest memories) I’ve got a few deer under my belt, still anxiously anticipating my first deer with a bow. I have had my fathers old Monarch Raghorn for a few years and plan to ditch my training wheel bow and hunt with the longbow this year. I was actually going to put a post on here about arrows when I stumbled on this old post. I had long since forgotten there were pictures from this day. Without my father I will be leaning on you all a lot for knowledge and wisdom.  :campfire:

Dad I love you, miss you, and cannot wait to hunt with you again someday.

Looks like he started a fire!!! :archer: Hope to see more of you here!!
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

There is a fine line between Hunting, & Sitting there looking Stupid...

May The Great Spirit Guide Your Arrows..... Happy Hunting!!!

Jesse, welcome once again.

The best memories of my life have been hunting with my dad…he died suddenly in October 2018 while hunting. Shooting Trad bows and hunting with them have been the way I feel “closest” to him. All that to say, I know where you’re coming from!

My son is almost 10 and I have the same philosophy as your dad…always encourage, but never push. I’m hoping this is a family tradition that I can pass along to him to keep alive!

Thanks for your kind words guys. Slowbow I know what you mean about feeling “closer” when shooting traditional. When shooting the longbow I can memtally hear him coaching me through my shots like he would do when I was a young kid, something I do not get with the compound bow.
