If you are spraying poly why not just use poly only why would you have to do the tru oil .
There was an thread about using truoil and armor-all it made a beautiful finish a friend tried it on a gun and was very please with it .

Correct me if I'm wrong but does the poly help with UV?

I've been using Tru-Oil for many years on shotguns and bows. The only reason I use spray satin poly is to cut the shine of the Tru-Oil. I only do a quick spray of the poly, that's all it needs. I prefer the Tru-Oil as a bow finish for the ease of use, ease of any repair and the protection it gives for my bows.
