First bugle of the season.
« on: September 04, 2021, 12:01:32 AM »
I heard my first daytime bugle Thursday morning. I did not see the bull only seeing three cows out in the meadow. Which is okay because I can only kill cows and spikes on this unit. The bulls are not into it yet but it will just get better with every day. I always get excited when I hear a bull bugle, it is easy to forget I have a deer tag too.

I heard night bugling and first thing in the morning Thursday and Friday, nothing mid day or evening. I’m out for now but will return the 18th to hunt until the season closes. Was great to get into the mountains.

I heard one weak locator bugle yesterday at sundown, cow called back a little with no effect and then ripped off a locator bugle of my own and got a hearty response of a bugle back, but nothing came in before it was too late to shoot.

You guys are so fortunate to live where you can see, hear, and hunt those beauties.
I don't envy much, but I do that.

Yeah, but I'd sure love to be able to whitetail hunt a few miles from my house, instead of 3 hours, there's closer but no place to camp etc..
