He's getting out of work early to go Greg.
I hope to get out a little while Friday and hit it serious on Saturday.

Good morning in the woods, day break 1 tom gobblin from the roost, called in 2 jakes later in the morning but no shot, needed um 10 yds closer I geuss they did not want to tag-team pretty boy and steal his girl. My dad did kill a nice tom with his cannon(aka 835 ulti-mag). 17lbs. 9 3/4" beard and 1" spurs he killed the strutter and let the other long beard have a fee pass for another day of fun.

Fred, there's some stories. I love these 4 day weekends! What kind of blind are you using? Good luck!

I picked up a demo double bull last year at Emerson outdoors in Groveton. stakes were missing etc but priced right...opening day 5/3. My road has been like rush hour this eve, everyone out trying to roost a bird.

The only feature in a blind you needed today was rainproof!

Had one hang-up at 50 yards or so this morning and he just wouldn't come in. Gobbled at me for over an hour but wouldn't cross the property line. I swear he could read the no trespassing signs and stayed behind them.

Dave, I also had a nice tom hang up this morning. Had to wait the rain out w/ no action, but as soon as I heard the little birds twittering, I knew the game would be on. Sure enough, I heard a couple of gobbles shortly afterward, and before I knew it he was standing in the logging road about 40 yards away putting on a show. He never came any closer. I think from now on I am not going to use hen decoys because I think as soon as they see 'em, the tom's attitude is "hey baby, I came this far. You work your butt over here to me". Now my jake decoy......well, I feel sorry for him!

I agree Greg. Have to have a Jake in the mix or they aren't coming in. Where I was this morning was pretty thick and he hung on the edge of the horse pasture refusing to cross the fence into the woodlot.
