My hunting partner and I went on a piece of public hunting land not too far from where we hunt private land. The wind was predicted to change more than we felt comfortable with at our private land ambush sites. We found a few funnels on the public that looked promising during the season opener and I was sitting in one of them this morning when this doe gave me a slightly quartering to shot at ten yards. She ran ten yards at the shot, stopped and looked back, spooked another ten when I pulled a second arrow out of the quiver, stumbled once ( my clue the hit was as good as I thought it was), then walked off another 15 yards and took a right turn out of site. She was piled up another ten yards from where I last saw her. The 75/80 Surewood was a complete pass through and was buried in the ground three to four inches deep on the other side of where she was standing when I let the string drop.
