Veneer on limbs ?
« on: November 02, 2021, 04:49:22 PM »
I was at Klingspors today and they had a pack of curly maple veneer that was 48" long and about 7" wide. Gorgeous figure!

Would this work for limbs? I want to do some bamboo core ,clear glass longbow limbs for a 3 piece bow.

Just want it for the looks and figure.

Thanks

They were in a pack. I need to take my mics but I would say around 30 though.

Is there a minimum for lams under the glass for looks and not function?

If they are that thin. Then yes they would be considered veneers, not core laminations.

I had some .015, you have to be careful with them

.030 is a good thickness for veneers. Some of the fragile burls need to be backed with aboo so they stay together.
