Any success with Cutthroats?

I shot this 400lb black bear with a 190gr Cutthroat and wood arrow out of my JD Berry Morning Star.  Shot was 17 yards, he ran about 60 yards, did the death moan, and it was all over in less than a minute.  I have also killed a few deer with them.  Great durable heads and very easy to sharpen,  but sometimes the blood trails leave something to be desired.  Not blaming the heads, that’s the nature of the beast with narrow 2 blades…

One of the main benefits of these heads besides the narrow profile and thus great penetration is they are nearly indestructible. So if you consider them expensive at least take into account how long they will last if you don't lose them. A lifetime.
Many of the laminated designs I used did not hold up under impacts with the ground or bone. But who cares right,  since they are so cheap. I got tired of tuning laminated bh's though and having to buy another pack every season.

I used them (200 grain) in Africa.  I was really impressed.  I had complete pass throughs on every animal.  I took 6 animals while there.  I also took a shot at a guina bird, for the feathers for fly tying.  I did miss the first one and hit a big rock.  After recovering the arrow, the broadhead had no damage and was still sharp.
As mentioned they cost more, but will last forever.  I've shot a lot of different broadheads in my 50 years of bowhunting and this has to be the best I have every used.

I shot a doe and nice 8pt with cutthroats this year, newer guy here so nothing to compare them too but I hand sharpened em and they did the job, they are stout that’s for sure

Since this thread is 6 yrs old - Dave did you ever do the elk hunt and any success using these heads?

I did go on the hunt, but the only bull we had an opportunity on had me as the caller.  For my white tails I am still using VPA 3-blades, Magnus 4-blades or Ace & Zwickey 2-blades.

Thanks for the input gents. I've been watching this one and definitely like to use cutthroats next season.
