Maine traditional Archers Summer Rendezvous
« on: June 04, 2021, 02:53:39 PM »
It has been quite awhile since I have been on this site. I miss it, but have been working to keep my screen time down, especially after the increase in screen time required in my job. Oddly enough I have become the Social Media guy for the Maine Traditional Archers, which tells you the level of our technology team. :biglaugh:

I just wanted to let people know that we will be holding our Summer rendezvous at Durham Rod and Gun Club in Durham Maine on July 10th and 11th (set up will happen on the 9th). We will have 5 15 target 3d courses. A Warriors competition that will challenge your shooting skills and punish your arrows. As well as a moving target competition (the Turbo Hog) and Red Dot Shoot off. It is a great time for all age levels with special youth events and prizes.

There is primitive camping (porta-potties and no showers) on site. But there are many campgrounds in the area that offer finer services. Brunswick, and the shopping mecca of Maine, Freeport are close by with hotels for those who like a cushier vacation. If you have ever thought of vacationing in Maine this might be a great chance to add some trad fun to your family vacation.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Just recently got back on here and have really missed the site. I travel for work and have locations in Bangor and Portland. Will this event be happening again in 2022? Would love to plan a work trip around it and stay for the shoot as well. Thanks Chip

Thanks for showing an interest!  We have just set the dates for our shoots for 2022. The biggest, the Summer Rendezvous known as the Poke and Hope is scheduled for July 9th and 10th 2022. Set up happens on the 8th and many people arrive and set up their campsites on site that day. If you are there we don't charge to shoot some warm up rounds. All the competitions will also be held, from the Warriors Course to the Turbo hog and red Dot shoot off.

On site there are no hook ups for campers or shower facilities. there are porta-potties and water can be obtained at the clubhouse.

There are several campgrounds nearby with amenities for those with campers. There are also hotels in Brunswick and Freeport for those who do not wish to camp, or might use the airlines to travel.

We would love to see you there. Check out the Maine Traditional Archers new revised website for any updates and more information. www.mainetraditionalarchers.com

Usually the weekend after the 4th of July.  They also have a lobster dinner on Saturday and that makes it very easy to get the wife to go.  Very easy going shoot and the warriors shoot is a lot of fun!  They also have a running hog competition.

Daggummit, I will be in Maine for a week in June. If we were up during these dates I would have loved to join for some shooting.

Where will you be? If I am not on my annual fishing trip Inwould be happy to meet up and shoot. I’ll even bring spare bows and arrows.
