For those who shoot axis traditional arrows what are the pros and cons? I’ve been shooting Gold Tip traditionals for years but have the itch to try small diameter shafts out of my PSR 46 at 28, I draw 29.  I’m Thanks in advance

I suppose the pro is they're skinnier.  Maybe a bit more consistent in spine and straightness. Some suggest that the hidden insert system isn't as strong as the type of insert that has a lip on the end.  I dunno. I do not foot them. They're plenty strong as is for my use.  Yeah, I might mushroom the end on one now and again on a dead on impact on a rock, but have never had trouble with them in game.  I rather like the older black version.  They're a little lighter than the traditional, enabling me to put a little more of the total arrow weight up front. All-in-all, a very good shaft.  It's the only carbon I use.

They are a very good, quality shaft.  The smaller diameter makes the shaft a little more stable in windy conditions.  Penetrates good.  Very durable shaft.

They are my favorite shaft. I personally like the HIIT inspects, I use the brass and foot them with 1” of aluminum shaft. I hear great penetration and bone breaking. My go to hunting bow is [email protected]” and I shoot 340s, 75 grain brass inserts and 250 grain broadheads with an overall arrow length of 32.25”. This is right around 700 grains. I cannot remember breaking one stump shooting either.

They are excellent shafts very tough and with the BAR collar they are bomb proof. I use them for roving 3D and hunting, also if for hunting I prefer the FMJ.

Ya there good, shot my last 10 deer with them,no Problems. I would epoxy in Broadheads after screwing them all the way into the inserts and spinning them.

They are my preferred shaft. However I’m not a fan of the HIT inserts so I use Ethics Archery inserts

I switched from gold tip traditional about 15 years ago to Beman MFX. Great shaft and weight. Then switched to Axis when Beman mfx went out. IMHO the finish on the gold tip is more durable. The axis is the most consistent shaft. I picked up some 9/32 gold tips from etar last year and they are 11 gr. per inch I think. I love gold tips outsert more than the brass hit insert.

I used to shoot them, good arrow, but I didn't care for the Hit insert either. If I was going to shoot them again, I would use the inserts 1/4 away uses.

I have a half dozen.  Didn't like the insert situation but the reason they didn't get used had more to do with I got out of the lighter bow I bought them for (600s) before I really got a chance to use them.  I've got 500s of other brands hanging around too.  But soon I'll have a mid 40s bow to work with so maybe . . .
I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.

For those who don’t like the HIIT inserts, what is it you don’t like? I will admit that there is a learning curve to installation but once there in, they have been bomb proof for me.

I really like them. I have 400s and 340s. I play around with aluminum and wood, but when things just don't seem right, I pull these out and somehow my shooting improves. It shouldn't be that way , it just is.

I use the 500’s with the Ethics collar (not the outsert) and 65 grain insert. I don’t think the half out is as strong as the collar system.
The long insert and collar stiffen the arrow more than you would think. I shoot 46# @ 27” 29.5” arrow with a 175gr head total of 260 on the front. They fly great and hit hard. If I remember right that makes a total arrow of 535gr.

Just avoid the 2-part epoxy and direct bond your inserts with the broadhead/field point. Throw an Ironwill collar on the end and these arrows become bomb proof. There is also a very noticable difference when spun on a premium arrow spinner.

The axis shafts are very well built and have incredibly tight tolerances in weight and spine, this means your bundle of arrows should all be within 1-3 grains of each other.

This build used 340 spine axis trad, and 200 grains on the end. 125 grain broadhead, 50 grain brass insert, 25 grain collar
