Been a long time!!
« on: March 25, 2022, 01:02:24 AM »
It has been forever since my last visit :biglaugh:
I'll share a pic from last season. I think out of the 3 I took off public land with a bow, this was my favorite.

My wife and I went out early the second day of our bow season here in Michigan. We had quite the walk back and found her ground blind after what seemed like an eternity in the dark.
Being that I primarily hunt public land, I seldom use reflective tacks to prevent other hunters from finding my spots. In my head, I just had to turn around and walk 60yds to my tree. Easy enough eh?
Well, it didn't take long to figure out I wasn't going to find my tree before daylight and I didn't want to stink up the area and ruin my wifes hunt. So, I chose a tree that looked big enough to break up my outline and pulled a few big branches up around the base of my tree.
No sooner had I settled in and a group of doe wandered down the treeline separating the woods from the swamp.
I gave a very soft grunt on my tube to lead them my way and the lead doe came in at 17yds. I was sitting cross legged and was able to draw without spooking her, using the method of not moving side to side like Uncle Barry says.
I sent the 150 grain Stinger right where I was looking from my 43# StJoe. She expired in a short circle, I was stunned. Out of the 48 deer I've taken with a stickbow, that was a pretty intense hunt. Drawing your bow while your eyes are locked with a whitetails and pulling off the shot from the ground is a one in a million on public land.
Good stuff!! Anxious to read your adventures as well!

Just one more step please!

That's a cool hunt!
I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.

That is just awesome!  Nothing like hunting on the ground to intensify the experience. On the west coast tree stands are not as popular as the east coast. We do a lot of stalking and ground blind hunting out here.

Congrats on the harvest!    Kirk
