Trail cams

I got 5 out in the last few weeks.  I still use all my old stuff, don’t have any cell service ones.  Set them where I can check cards off the tractor or wheeler. 

What’s your strategy-I’ve often thought of ditching them all and just huntin, but it’s fun gettin them pics.

Am I missing the trail cam picture thread or is there not one going this year?

I just put two out last week.  Still now the cell service style for me either..  For us it's about management, identifying mature animals, culls and seeing how many fawns have survived.
Another big one is seeing when and where pigs are hitting us.  For me it's more fun than deer.

I put out 3 last week and have 3 or 4 more to put out. For me it’s just about seeing what’s out there. I don’t feel they’re much use for scouting other than telling you animals are present at some point in time.

I have 4 out, seen two batches of turkey poults , some small bucks , and too many coyotes. As far as helping kill a deer, I’ve never killed a buck I had a pic of. Guess I’m not much of a hunter . LOL

I haven't hunted whitetail but out here in the west I try to leave mine up year round just to see what in the woods.

I only have two cheap ones and I've never put them up anyplace other than my own 4 acre back yard. It's fun to see what's around when I'm not.

Have two Primos a big one and a mini.  If I get drawn to hunt Government land I can put them in my area.

I’ve shot a few deer I had on cam but it’s a rarity. 
Most of mine are set on farms I hunt but not where stands actually are.  I just to see what’s out there and am less invasive if I set them where I can pull up to them on the tractor or wheeler

I need to get up and retrieve my elk spot cam, it's been out about six weeks and the cards probably full  I don't hunt much anymore so the cams have become a hobby and keep some of the old juices flowing.

We have 7 set up on 140 acres near licks and feeders. We get some great shots of the animals that are around. Last March got a nice bear turning over a feeder and hanging out a while.  Nice to see a bobcat every year or so too. We do not have any of the cellular ones just the "traditional" ones.

Love them.  I learn more from cameras than anything.  Typically I do not hang them where I plan to hunt.  If I do, it's only for a short period.....find the target, then get out.  Come back and hunt.
Currently I'm running four traditional cams and my buddy is running two cell cams.  I prefer to check mine in person as it gives me an opportunity to scout.  The cell cams are nice if you don't want to have to go "deep".  The problem is "deep" often means little cell signal.
