riser wood

I am making a bamboo and yew bow for a friend, and would like to know what is a wood that is close to the same color as yew? This bow will have a bamboo core between yew laminations and clear glass. What do you think, same color riser or break it up a bit? He said he don't care what I do but would like it to look good ya-know. Thanks for any help.

Personally, I like a darker wood when I am building a boo core to contrast the lighter lams. Bocote or cocobolo would do that, and will pick up the reds in the yew too. Your yew lams will UV to a rich color as time goes by and complement those riser woods at every stage of the yew. So, you will have a contrast against the boo and complement with the yew. My 2 cents.

Cocobolo and Osage combination with Red White and Black "F" Glass curved accent strips, would be a good choice. Black Walnut with Red and White curved accent strips would be another choice I would choose....ONE SHOT...

Got one bow with a cocobolo and red action wood stripe riser with pacific yew limbs, and it is really a looker.
Another is Osage/boo limbs with black phenolic and osage accents in the riser. This is a knock-out!!!!!
Go with contrasting!!!!
