Kentucky TradFest 2022??
« on: March 04, 2022, 09:58:12 PM »
Has anyone heard anything about the Kentucky TradFest this year? I may have just missed it, but I have not seen anything on here about this year's event.

KyTradFest is April 1,2,3, 2022.
We decided for it to be first full weekend of April, every year, regardless of holidays, weather, or other events. Count on it. Campers and vendors may arrive on thursday march 31 if they so choose. Will try to get back later and post flyers. This info is on other related sites.

This is a well run event and great range!  I haven't attended in a while but am planning to this year. A buddy from Maryland is planning to come and stay with me and attend as well. I might bring a grandson fresh out of the NASP state tournament.

Love that you (Randy) have a NASP class for the thousands of kids in this area who shoot bare bow with that equipment.

Randy Grider posted this on another site, thought I'd pass it along here.

"This next month will see a lot of preparations for this shoot, trail maintenance, road maintenance, firewood resupply. Anyone who cant pitch in on these, i understand, but please, spreading the word can only help, and takes little effort. After 11 years having this shooting, and as many people as has attended, im amazed at the number of people i have ran into that still do not know about this shoot !"

Let me also add, you'd be hard pressed to find a better group of folks that put on a great event like this. :clapper:

I was there last year and had an absolute blast! Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it this time around. Too many irons in the fire.  :banghead:

Sadly, that NASP class does not get used as much as i would like to see, but every year, with so many kids classes , lotsa younguns leave with a medal around their neck.
I have had attendees comment on seeing wheelbows on the course, like it is offensive to them, but, its kids ! They are all NASP legal genesis bows, and since we do fundraisers and have donated tens of thousands to NASP over the years, it would be offensive to us not to let them participate.
We try to have a few old bows around for loaners to kids if they want to try the stickbow route as well.
Would to at one time have enough club cash to bulk buy some bows to distribute amongst the masses, but the way costs are going up on targets ( and everything) its going to be hard to keep our low shoot fees as it is.
I have been attending some other shoots, and can tell you, we are the cheapest.

Also, thanks to Terry Harris for his support !
I’ll def be down in June to attend the Howard Hill Classic at Tannehill State Park in Alabama.
Another great gathering. I have a whole new group of friends down there now, due to this shoot.
Beautiful location, lotsa scenic camping, great course!

Randy, I have always thought it a great thing that you have the kids' Genesis bow class.  How anyone could be "offended" at that is beyond me. Like you said, c'mon, it's kids!  We should be glad they have put down their phones and video games to get outdoors and shoot arrows, and they generally are with dad and/or mom which is also a plus.
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

Thanks Jonathan.  I am organizing an Odd Year Gathering for the PBS at the 2023 TradFest, and those dates work best for us.
