Just moved to Helena, saying hello.
« on: October 20, 2022, 10:57:04 AM »
I just moved to Helena MT and wanted to say hello to the locals. I am busy unpacking but hope to be shooting soon. I understand that there is an out and indoor range in town and just a few critters in the surrounding hills.

As a younger man the plan was to pack up the ol El Camino, aim it toward Montana and see if I could whittle out a life in those hinder lands, hunting, fishing and such.  Like a young man is wont to do, though, I allowed a pretty blond redirect those plans and only got to visit that incredible country a couple times.  The kids are grown, she's doing her thing, which doesn't include this no longer young man, and the grandkids have started popping out of ovens.  You, sir, are living the dream.  Congratulations.  Make the most out of this stellar opportunity, and remember when you gaze at those mountains that the God who created them cares deeply for you.

Congratulations and I hope you enjoy the state as much as I did and still do on somewhat regular fly fishing trips. In April 1973 I put my relatively new bride (she hadn't even started training me yet) into my 3/4 ton F250 pulling a travel trailer and we moved to Billings. We lived there for 2 years, I had o.t.c. sheep tags in the Beartooths and hunted them and more, a lot more! I recall our two years there fondly and I have little doubt it's where it first dawned on her that training me at least a little had to happen. It's been almost 52 years now and I still have her, she seems to have succeeded.
