Y'all start getting ready for St Jude 2023
« on: January 07, 2023, 07:57:24 AM »
We have began going through the house and pruning some stuff that isn't being used already.  It's boxed and labelled.  My donations collection will be growing as we go through more stuff.  Donations do NOT need to be bowhunting related for this benefit auction.

Thus far, my donations will include: a $150 bowhunting books bundle, leather Neet hip quiver, camping kit, Disney memorabilia necklace that was my wife's, predator call, two western novel sequels signed by the author, trinkets box that used to hold my wallet/keys/chapstick but no longer matches our new furniture according to my wife.

Here's one I’m considering donating to the St Jude's auction this year.  Actually, I considered donating it to the last one that we ended up not having, but if anything it's improved with age.

John Strunk made this yew self bow about 10 years ago.  He made it as an experiment in making a string-follow bow with bent recurved ends.  It is 52# @ 27”, and draws very smoothly, as one would expect from the string-follow design.  I hadn't drawn this bow for several years, so I exercised it very carefully up to 27”, without experiencing any complaints from the bow.  As with any self bow, that's about the only guarantee you're going to get.  It is beautifully finished, and very representative of the many hundreds (thousands?) of self bows that John has made.

Yes, as Garrett posted, I need to reiterate and elaborate on non bowhunting stuff...

Jewelry, afghans, hunting trips(I'm going to hit up the outfitter to see if I can get a hunt donations to LTR next year, lamps, knifes, boots, skillet(which was fabulous the one we had last auction, belt buckles, toys, dolls, antique anything, packs,  leather goods of any kind, dishes, paintings,.... it goes on an on.

Basically ANYTHING except guns and amo.

What about a signed photo of the GUNS God put between my elbows and shoulders? Surely that’s worth paying for.  :biglaugh:

Yep. No firearms or ammo. That has to do with the licensing for our forum services. Pretty much anything else of value is good to go.
