"To the Mountain High"

As I rest against the Aspen
Its leaves quake in the early breeze
And full dawn will arrive soon

The Longbow across my knee beckons to the hunt
But, I linger a few more breaths
And gaze out at the splendor of the scenery

High and lonely the Mountain be
While below, man succumbs to the hussle and bussle
Never knowing true freedom

While time passes like the wind 'neath the eagles wing
Swiftly, and then it's gone
Only a memory that it ever was

Soon the snows will come again
Blanketing the gray world with pure white
For a while all will seem clean

It feels I just arrived
Yet age hastens my departure
And I lift myself to my feet

Turning and facing the Moutain high
Its peace has fed my soul
The hunt, is no longer important...
