Unique bow racks
« on: February 15, 2023, 09:19:35 AM »
I had a cherry bow stave roughed out that I was sure wouldn’t make it as a bow without exploding like its sister staves did so I made good use of it. I screwed in some antler tips for hooks and attached it to the wall. Makes a pretty neat rack for my bows. I would like to see other original bow rack ideas.

Here's one I did that I was happy with. I cut a head out from a magazine, and the wife took it to work and enlarged it. I used that for a template and cut the head out with a router. I was doing all of this with a 1x6. I then measured in equal amounts on both sides and cut it down on my table saw.

Here’s one that I made from a piece of yew. I turned some cherry pegs for it.

Here’s one I copied from a guy who went by the handle “Doctari” on the leather wall several years ago.

Not exactly unique, but it is fun and pretty easy to make just about anything that you want.  Initially I had a half dozen or so bows, and made several attractive holders by buying wooden plaques with routed edges from a craft store, drilled them for pegs, stained, poly top coat and done.  When I moved and had more to hang, I went to Home Depot and easily found a nice piece of maple board with attractive grain in it and did the same  thing: drilled, pegs, stained, poly and done.
Any board could be used and there are a variety of peg sizes and shapes to be had.
Leon Stewart Deflex/Reflex Mahogany and bamboo 62" 53#@27.5"
Leon Stewart Deflex/Reflex curly maple, birdseye maple and Osage riser 53#@ 28"
Blacktail 62" longbow takedown 53#/57# B & W ebony
Harvey Crowned Eagle longbow  62"  49#

OK, GAlongbowhntr, you're just showing off!  Seriously, that looks very nice.  I'm so jealous of people with talent.
