Enjoying my Super D
« on: July 26, 2023, 06:38:32 PM »
I don’t see the Toelke Super D talked about a lot. I know that it is only made on seasonal runs because of low demand. I have recently acquired one and I am beyond impressed. I know there is a honeymoon with new bows but just wanted to put this out there in case anyone has considered one. I have a Whip and ASL’s to compare it to. The super D is as easy to shoot as the Whip and much quieter. I am sure the Whip shoots faster but they are not the same weight. The super D is almost as quiet as my ASL’s but easier to shoot with less shock and vibration. Mine is the newer version of the super D so I cannot compare to earlier versions. If you have ever considered one I don’t think you would be disappointed.

I've had a number of Dan's bows and ended up with nothing but Super Ds. To say I like them is an understatement.

I sure hope the honeymoon phase doesn’t end because it is just such a great blend of quietness, shoot ability, and smoothness.

I have Jim’s old one and it is probably the best looking bow I have. Good shooter too!

I should clarify that I did end up for years with 3 Super Ds but suffered a torn rotator cuff during the initial Covid wave. Unable to get surgery I settled for a couple of extended P.T. sessions. I couldn't come close to shooting my 49-54 lb. Super Ds and I sold them. Afterward I was at Dan's while on a fly fishing trip and he started on a 34 lb. 66" Classic Whip which I shot while I worked on strengthening and have ended up with an inch shorter draw and being comfortable with low 40s draw weight. He recently built me a 41 lb. 56" Pika that I thoroughly enjoy and which shoots a 500-520 grain arrow like a heavier bow.

I’m a whip man. Love my 66” whips (31” draw). Only 2 bows I own. Have always had my eye on the super d though. I always talk myself out of it by telling myself the whip will be the easier to be accurate with bow. Maybe not! Thanks for sharing.
