What's the best bowmaking thread on bowyers bench
« on: September 24, 2023, 11:47:22 AM »
This isn't a competition I want to see who has any favorite threads or topics out there. I've been digging into the bowyers bench boards and I read so many great threads. Interesting builds. Physics topics, healthy debates etc.  Links appreciated.

I'd love to get more study material :bigsmyl:

The best bow making thread on Bowyers Bench is the one you get the most out of personally. Too many good ones to choose from.  :dunno:

What Pat said.  Also, it depends on what Kind of bow build you want -- stickbow?  takedown?  one piece? trilam?

A lot of good Bowyers here over the years, for my time here on the bench I would say
Tri lam--Roy from Pa
Selfbow with Sinew backing--Pat B
As for glass bows, I would say it is a mixture of many.
It's a lot of work to take pictures and explain all of what you are doing and how you do it so you would have to search and see what you run across. The build a longs get lost over the years

There is no good way to answer your question really. :dunno:

Thanks guys.  The references to two threads I'm going to read through is exactly how to answer the question. I'm looking for reading materials that others find interesting.  I know there isn't a best bowmaking thread, I thought some folks would just stop by with a link they enjoyed.  Anyway I'll keep digging through the threads.

There's a build along section on the main boards with loads of build along projects mostly bows, If that's what your looking for, I have more than one favorite for different projects. If its anything specific you should find good info there.

Best build aling I saw was before the Bowyers Bench.  Look in the how to forum for J.D. Jones static bamboo backed recurve.
